Slayers, I want you to look around you right now, right in this moment. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I want you to stop right there and become aware of your thinking. What are you thinking? What are you thinking right now? Is it positive? Are the thoughts you are engaging with feeding you from the inside out. Providing you with encouragement and sustenance you need to thrive and progress in a positive way. Or are your thoughts poison, diminishing all of the amazing attributes and characteristics that make you, you. Everyday, in my work within both the employment and mental health sectors I come across so many individuals who want to achieve so much within their lives. They crave self improvement, they pray for better, they wish for better yet they succumb, they succumb because they do not have the solid faith needed to turn their dreams into their reality.
Too often, it is WE who are our own worst enemy. We spend far too much time comparing ourselves to others . We catch a glimpse of models, actors and entertainers on our television screens and we wish that we could be, have and become whatever it is or attain whatever they possess to get the life they lead. What WE all need to realise is that in this life, WE need to invest time in ourselves. There is no point looking at others and wishing you were them. The time that you spent wasting your energy and expending it on someone else's life only means you run the risk of living a life where you never get to truly establish what you are made of.
You have a gift. You may not see it yet, but understand that it is there and no matter what you do, you will only attain the best for yourself if you learn to acknowledge this. There is no-one on this Earth quite like you and once you leave, there will be no-one like you again. This is why the time is NOW. Today, tonight, tomorrow, whenever you decide to read this. Ask yourself why you are not where you want to be and tell yourself that you are more than worthy to get the best out of life.
Do not spend time wishing that you were someone else. Too often the people we look at as having a glorious existence had to walk the prickly thorns of life and had more than one momentous battle with the elements life threw at them. What you must realise is that the successful people you read about and you see about were only able to attain success because they remained true to themselves.
Life is not easy, but we wouldn't be able to establish just how strong we really are if it was. Challenges are what make us who we are. How we respond to them is what separates the 'haves from the havenots'. You may not be there yet, I too am working on making all of my dreams a reality. But believe me when I say, nothing great will be achieved if you do not start to believe wholeheartedly in yourself and your abilities. Most importantly, you need to embody all of the enriching qualities that make you the person you are RIGHT NOW. It is that person who will evidently help you to take the steps necessary to become the amazing and fulfilled person you are destined to be.
Take it one step at a time and believe that it will happen. Work each day to begin to find the courage to be yourself.
